We drove up through the dense, zig-zagging mountain road to reach our favourite vantage point for their mountain engagement session. On hot summer evenings in Bulgaria’s capital, retreating to Vitosha is always a good idea! Eventually, we arrived at our trail to celebrate their engagement in the pre-dusk glow.
German-born Steffen arrived in Bulgaria several years ago, looking to bring change to his life. Naturally outgoing and friendly, he soon met his soulmate Ivanina. Nature-loving and travel-hungry, together they form such a genuine couple. They invited Sam and I to photograph their wedding and we were over the moon to accept, so we immediately started planning their engagement session.
Being an outdoorsy couple, we knew they’d love to celebrate their engagement with a nice view and a relaxing walk along the shoulder of Vitosha mountain. Outdoor photo sessions are always so dynamic and are worth bringing home muddy shoes!
Vitosha may not be as internationally popular as Bulgaria’s other magnificent mountains; The Pirin Mountain Range and the epic Rila Mountains with it’s Seven Lakes; though Vitosha provides a much-needed contrast from the busy city below. There’s just nothing quite like photographing in the outdoors, especially if you have such a beautiful view as we did!
Sofians are lucky to have such a verdant, refreshing getaway right on the doorstep of their city; we could tell Iva and Steffen appreciated the peace and quiet up there.
There’s a warmth and trust that Iva and Steffen bring to any meeting and we wanted to reflect that in their images. We are so happy for them both and loved celebrating their love with this engagement session.
Now we really can’t wait for their special day!
So lovely, very happy for the couple 🙂
