Georgian Romance in Gloster House | Birr, Co. Offaly
Gloster House lies along the leafy road between Roscrea, Co. Offaly (close to the magnificent Slieve Bloom Mountains) and the Heritage Town of Birr. Gloster House is one of Ireland’s most stylish (and exclusive) wedding venues.
Planned with Martina (of MartinaO Weddings), we drew inspiration for this shoot from the regal architecture and history of Gloster House. We brought life and love into Gloster House to return this hidden gem to the romance of the Georgian era. Our stunning couple took a step back in history, hand in hand.
We chose a neutral colour palette for our shoot; a collection of foliage greens, whites, a dash of blush, and luxurious blue hues. And complimenting our selection were our two ginger-haired models.
This is our elegant, Georgian-inspired elopement in the soft rain of hidden Ireland.

We strived to honour the Georgian character of this home, tucked away in lush, rural Offaly. Our elegant styling exhibits all the finery of the era; our bride models a lovely vintage gown from Ban Bridal. We highlighted the opulence of the period with Abigail‘s exquisite dress design, and touches of light jewellery from Sinead (of The Lovely Little Label). Our groom wore a noble navy suit and slate-grey waistcoat.
I had the pleasure of working with our H&MUA, Karolina, at our previous styled shoot at Cliff at Lyons. She specialises in creating a light and natural look. Once Karolina‘s lovely work was done, Nathalie’s bright and elegant final look came together.
Gloster House feels luxurious, yet comfortable and homely. Nigel, son of the owners, greeted us warmly. His family are nothing but kind and welcoming and spent years meticulously restoring this estate after their purchase. As a result, there is a familial and cordial atmosphere throughout, even through the crisp Georgian architecture.

The entrance hall of this 18th Century mansion is breathtaking; stretching far overhead, light pours down through the tall windows. Even on a rainy day, the rooms of Gloster House glow.
The brilliant light filling this white hall was perfect to showcase our dining set. Suzanne (of Cove Cake Design) created a stunning tiered cake for our dining table; which Martina had decorated with fine crockery and a long, blue silk ribbon.
The delicately handwritten invitations and menus from All You Need is Love perfectly complemented the shoot; and the stationary blended Georgian refinement with our organic styling.
Fionnuala (of Earthly Elegance) adorned Gloster House with beautiful floral festoons and bouquets; even assembling a eucalyptus arch over the baroque doorway! She sewed delicate floral arrangements into the architecture and added life into the glorious, bright entrance hall.

This 300-year-old estate hides a cosy courtyard, where strings of lights are draped overhead from birch to birch. Across this courtyard stands the chapel, which was accompanied by school buildings back in the 1950s. This pristine, marble-white chapel hall is stunning and seems to exist in a permanent state of ornateness.
Nestled in the Irish midlands, Gloster House’s 150 acre demesne boasts extensive gardens. With gravity-fed fountains, ponds, lakes and woodland walks, one could spend hours strolling through these paths. Although it rained during our shoot, we did enjoy enough time outside to meet Percy the Peacock!
