This wedding at Tankardstown House was filled with joy – everyone was in such great spirits and we loved Sinead and James’ fun-loving energy. We met Sinead and her family in a cottage near Slane, County Louth on a fickle June morning. With the pandemic keeping families apart for so long, everyone in the house was electric with excitement!
“Ivana and Sam were a dream to have capture our wedding day. They really listened to what we wanted, delivering beautiful bright, natural, candid photos!”
Sinead McGirr
The Start of a Spirited Summer Wedding
While James got ready in his family home in Dublin, Sinead’s cottage was buzzing with bridesmaids and well-wishing visitors. Her whole family was so jovial and any nervous energy was filtered through uproarious laughter! The whole cottage was ringing with joy.
Once Sinead, her sister, and her bridal party were ready, she stunned her father with a “first look”. First Looks create opportunity for natural reactions and photos of your loved ones that will only become more treasured as time goes on!
It was a joy to see Sinead and her bridesmaids having such fun together; they loved our suggestions and subtle direction to make these images happen naturally. Everyone got on like a house on fire – Sinead and her sister were like best friends too.
Pro Tip: By having everybody dressed and ready at least an hour before leaving, you facilitate moments like these to happen naturally. This simply doesn’t happen when everyone is rushed and late out the door.
Wedding Vows and Ice Cream Cones
With morning prep done and dusted, we all headed down to Rathfeigh church. The place was packed, clearly there was a lot of love for Sinead and James!
The two exchanged their vows in front of their loved ones and shared many laughs throughout the ceremony. I don’t think anybody managed to stop smiling!
There was a great atmosphere, and the love that Sinead and James shared for each other was palpable. After the ceremony, the pair received warm greetings from their many guests in the warm summer air. An opportunistic ice cream vendor wanted to join the celebration too!
Truly a Great Day for a Tankardstown House Wedding
We then headed over to Tankardstown House, where Sinead and James were warmly greeted with champagne and delicious canapés. That fickle weather continued and for a moment, it thundered down while everyone hid inside. Thankfully, the sun broke through and the shining, dewy garden made a perfect backdrop for the family photos! It was a joy to capture this happy family’s big smiles and hearty laughs.
With the formal family photos done, we took full advantage of the stunning, shiny flora in Tankardstown’s Walled Garden. After the rain, all the colours came out! The scenery at Tankardstown House was beaming and bright; their photos were filled with love, laughter, and pure joy.
The sun was out and spirits were high; the guests gave a great cheer at the newlywed’s return! Everyone gathered for the reception on the back porch, before migrating to the stunning Orangery for dinner.
Thank you to Sinead and James for sharing your joyous day with us, it was a pleasure to capture all your laughs and smiles. We wish you a long and happy marriage!
