Mykonos Private Villa – Intimate Destination Wedding in Greece

Steven and Jamilya’s destination wedding makes for fantastic inspiration if you’re looking for a private and exotic wedding location. Not only that, but this small wedding was perhaps one of the most heartfelt, joyous and intimate celebrations we’ve ever seen.

The couple and their families travelled from opposite ends of the globe; coming together on the beautiful island of Mykonos for a magical sunset ceremony. With only close family and friends present, this destination wedding was a truly intimate celebration in a relaxed style (when in Greece..!).

The couple spent the morning in relaxed preparation, aided by their families and close friends. With so few people around, it was easy to get to-and-fro and everyone had a hand in setting up the day.

Steven and his brothers (leisurely) prepared in the rear room of the villa, with a cute cacti garden outside. They enjoyed casual chats and laughs together in the lounge while gathering the remaining pieces for the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Jamilya prepared in the topmost room of the villa, which had gorgeous views and plenty of light. Her mother and aunt assisted her in dressing; once ready, her father was there to deliver her to the ceremony.

With everyone participating in the ceremony prep to some degree, each guest felt specially connected to the celebration; from hair and make-up, food and drinks, table-setting and speech-making. Altogether, this made the day feel more meaningful and personal. I also fondly remember the father of the bride struggling to fit the great mass of balloons out the front door!

Have you thought of walking down an aisle with a swimming pool on one side and the Aegean Sea on the other? Here’s why we encourage people to consider elopements and intimate weddings: the creative possibilities are limitless.

The simple but beautiful setup of the ceremony aisle made for an enchanting and romantic celebration. The tasteful floral arch framed the couple as the groom’s brother officiated and gave a heartfelt speech to the newlyweds. It was unforgettable.

Capturing Steven’s brothers’ faces during the ceremony was priceless; these candid images are so important and will mean so much to the family in the years ahead.

This wedding allowed for so many special moments and priceless bonds between two families from opposite sides of the world; everyone had their moment, captured in timeless photos.

The simple and relaxed style of the occasion was enhanced by the smaller scale of the day; without crowds and long lines of obligatory invitees, there was nothing to distract from proceedings. Everyone there had their role and the splendour of the day was shared plentifully amongst a few lucky souls.

Speaking of style, this destination wedding is a true example of tasteful simplicity. The seaside villa was already so charming that a flower arch was all that was needed to complete the magical backdrop for Steven and Jamilya’s ceremony.

Whether you’re here for the sunset sea views or the minimally-coloured, swoon-worthy details, you’ll find lots of joy, love, and style in this intimate island wedding.

We captured some lovely portraits of the newlyweds on a lovely little beach nearby (those are coming up)! After that pretty little escape, Steven, Jamilya and their family kindly invited us to sit with them for dinner. This was a very special evening for us and we all shared an incredible meal together as the sun sank low.

It was a delight to be part of such an intimate celebration; we felt blessed being surrounded by the beauty of this island and the kindness and generosity of our hosts.
